Offered in the comfort of your own home, we will work together to address and resolve your breastfeeding/lactation or infant feeding problems. A home visit is a great option for those who are in need of hands-on support and assistance. The visit will last between 1.5- 2 hours and is typically scheduled to begin about 30 minutes before an expected feeding (the goal is to observe a full feeding during this visit, which can be difficult if baby eats shortly before I arrive).
Visits include:
Complete review of your medical and birth history and a discussion of your current concerns (prior to consult)
Feeding observation with recommendations on positioning and latch to optimize milk transfer and minimize pain
A functional oral assessment of your baby and evaluation regarding any restrictions or oral dysfunction that may impact baby’s ability to remove milk or feed without causing pain
A pre- and post-weighed feed (using my scale with a 2g sensitivity), to assess infant’s intake, will be taken if needed
Flange fitting to ensure you’re using the right size flange when pumping (this is important for comfort and milk output)
Education on milk collection & storage, bottle feeding, including positioning, pacing and teat options
Creation of a sustainable, personalized feeding care plan, with your input, that will evolve as feeding improves

A virtual consultation is perfect for many issues that may not require hands on support. Topics that are easily covered in virtual consults include:
Pumping
Planning to return to work
Increasing or decreasing milk supply
Assessing/improving oral function
Bottle refusal/difficulty
Assistance with positioning and latch may be attainable via a virtual consultation, but it will be crucial to have an extra set of hands that can move the phone/camera so that I can see what is happening.
